Police say that a special traffic plan will be implemented in the Kaduwela area today (16) as the annual water-cutting procession of the Siddha Rankadu Patthini Devalaya is scheduled to take place from 6 am to 2 pm.
The procession will start from the temple and proceed via the 143 Avissawella Colombo bus route to the Bandarawatte, Biyagama area via the Kaduwela Rajasinghe Bridge and after the water-cutting ceremony, it is scheduled to return to the temple via the Kaduwela Junction on the same route.
Accordingly, the police have issued a notice to drivers and the public traveling through the area to use alternative routes to minimize traffic congestion during the procession period.
Alternative routes –
During the time when traffic is restricted near the Wele Junction on the 143 – Avissawella – Colombo bus route, alternative routes can be taken by bus route 697, via the Pattiyawatte route, to the 177 Kaduwela – Kollupitiya bus route and then via Rajasinghe Mawatha towards Malabe and back to the 143 Avissawella – Colombo bus route.
