The Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said that the Appropriation Bill for the 2024 budget will be submitted to Parliament in the second week of October.
He said that the second reading of the budget will be conducted by President Ranil Wickremesinghe as the Minister of Finance on November 13, and the related debate will be held from November 14 to 21 and the second reading vote will be held on the afternoon of the 21st.
After the adoption of the budget, it is to be made a law by December 27 with the approval of the speaker and after December 31, the allocation of money for government expenses is to be done through the new budget.
