It is reported that a 22-year-old woman residing in the Udispattuwa area of Teldeniya, Rangala, has been found murdered and buried mysteriously by the Rangala Police.
The unfortunate victim is a garment factory worker named Weerasekara Mudiyanselage Wasana Sandamali. The crime was uncovered by a team of officers including the Rangala Police OIC, Chief Inspector Nishantha Jayaratne, on a confidential tip-off.
Accordingly, the police team that acted has taken steps to exhume the body of the buried girl, obtaining a court order.
Teldeniya Magistrate Kamal Sanjaya Jayathilaka, who arrived at the scene, conducted an on-site investigation and ordered the Rangala Police OIC to conduct a post-mortem examination of the body by the Forensic Medical Officer of the Teldeniya Hospital, Upuli Bandara, and submit a report to the court.
Rangala Police are conducting further investigations.
