According to the police, 14 people were seriously injured and admitted to the Nuwara Eliya Hospital in a lorry accident that took place near the Labukele Tea Factory in Nuwara Eliya this morning.
An officer of the Nuwara Eliya Police, who is conducting investigations into the matter, told our website that this lorry, which was driving to bring vegetables to Nuwara Eliya Economic Center, ran off the road and overturned about 70 feet into a cliff.
It is reported that five people who were injured in the accident are in a critical condition, and one person who was traveling in the lorry escaped safely after as he was able to jump off lorry just before the accident.
The people injured in the accident were taken to the hospital by Kotmale police officers and local residents of Labukele.
