It is reported that among the people nominated by the National People’s Power for the Wattala Regional Council in this year’s local government election, there is also a person involved in bringing the Chinese organic fertilizer ship to Sri Lanka which caused controversy last season.
Speaking at a press conference, Minister of State for Irrigation Shashindra Rajapaksa said that the CEO of the company that imported organic fertilizers is contesting as a candidate of the National People’s Power for the local government elections. Therefore, he said, the leaders of that party may know more details about the Chinese fertilizer ship than he does.
He said that he has no relationship with the organic fertilizer ship and said that all the activities related to bringing the ship had been done before he assumed the position of minister.
