The case filed against former Defense Secretary Hemasiri Fernando for criminal dereliction of duty by failing to take action to prevent a terrorist attack on Easter Sunday despite receiving intelligence information that it was going to be carried out was taken up before the Colombo Permanent Three-Judge High Court Bench today.
The Colombo Permanent Three-Judge High Court Bench ordered that the verdict in the case will be announced on July 31st.
The case, which was filed by the Attorney General, was taken up before the Colombo Permanent Three-Judge High Court Bench consisting of Priyantha Liyanage, Viraj Weerasuriya and Thilakaratne Bandara, where Attorney Chaminda Athukorala, who appeared for the defendant Hemasiri Fernando, concluded his oral arguments.
