America strikes Iran again amid peace talks .

The US military announced yesterday that it had carried out a series of additional airstrikes on several military targets in Iran, following an order from US President Donald Trump.

The US Central Command said in a social media post that the move was in response to the Iranian military’s attack on a merchant ship sailing in the Strait of Hormuz.

The US says that this tough decision had to be made in order to stop Iran’s continued attacks on commercial vessels, despite the last opportunity given to it to respect the ceasefire agreement.

It is reported that the series of airstrikes targeted Iranian military surveillance infrastructure, communications systems, air defense sites, drone storage facilities and bomb-laying facilities. The US military confirms that the operations have now been successfully completed.

Meanwhile, Iranian state television reported that several loud explosions were heard near the southern city of Sirik. However, Iran has not yet made an official statement on the damage caused.

The United States and Iran are currently accusing each other of violating the agreement reached two weeks ago.
