Adani’s withdrawal from the wind power project could have a negative impact on the country, says Pro. Priyanga Dunusinghe.

Hours after Indian billionaire Gautam Adani announced that he had decided to withdraw from his wind power project in Sri Lanka, the Indian side and the Sri Lankan government have decided to hold another series of talks next week.

Accordingly, there are indications that the project may not be completely canceled.

The Indian and Sri Lankan sides will meet next week to discuss the issues and see if a mutual decision can be reached to discuss the implementation of two projects in the country.

Speaking to the Weekend Anidda newspaper in this regard, Prof. Priyanga Dunusinghe says that Adani’s withdrawal is discouraging for investors interested in Sri Lanka. He emphasized that any investor is interested in trust and investment security. He pointed out that the results of such investments are seen after about ten years, and that investors are frustrated by the need to renegotiate agreements every time governments change.
