A train that was supposed to stop at the first platform of the Colombo Fort railway station collided with the platform due to brake failure.
The train involved in the accident was scheduled to enter platform number 1 of the Colombo Fort railway station at 2:35 pm to commence its journey from Colombo Fort to chillaw. A spokesperson for the Railway Department informed our website that there were no injuries reported among the passengers or the train staff.
This incident did not disrupt train traffic. However, an inquiry will be conducted at the railway department level to determine the cause of the accident.
