A Pradeshiya Sabha candidate representing the Samagi Jana Balawegaya party was arrested by the Police Narcotics Bureau in connection with a drug haul worth over Rs. 400 million.
The person was arrested in the Pannala area yesterday afternoon regarding the multi-day fishing vessel with a stock of ice and heroin sezied by the srilanka navy. The fishing vessel was brought to the Tangalle Fisheries Harbour.
During a search of the vessel, 200 kilograms of ice and about 100 kilograms of heroin packed in 18 parcels were found. Two illegal firearms were also seized from the vessel by the security forces.
