A risks collapse of health service due to the Ministry of Public Administration

It is reported that a serious crisis is arising due to the failure of the Ministry of Public Administration to issue the relevant official gazette despite the Court of Appeal ruling extending the retirement age of specialist doctors in government hospitals to 63 years.

Due to this situation, more than 200 specialist doctors are at risk of premature retirement, which is a threat to the country’s public health service, health sources say.

Although the relevant cabinet paper was approved by the cabinet on June 19, 2024, this situation has arisen due to the failure of the Ministry of Public Administration to take further steps.

The controversy arose after a general circular and gazette notification from the Ministry of Public Administration made it mandatory for public servants to retire at the age of 60.
