Authorities say a man has been arrested for killing a Fishing Cat in the Karawilagala area of the Kahalla-Pallekele Wildlife Sanctuary.
The Department of Wildlife Conservation stated that the suspect was arrested while committing the crime and is scheduled to be produced before the Kekirawa Magistrate’s Court today.
The Fishing cat is a protected species under the Wildlife Protection Ordinance and harming or killing one is a punishable offense.
