The Director General of the Disaster Management Center (Retd.) Major General Udaya Herath said that 207,582 people belonging to 59,629 families in 127 Divisional Secretariat Divisions of 17 districts have been affected due to the prevailing rainy weather conditions.
The districts of Jaffna, Puttalam, Kegalle, Mannar, Kilinochchi, Ratnapura, Galle, Trincomalee, Badulla, Mullaitivu, Nuwara Eliya, Anuradhapura, Batticaloa, Matara, Matale, Ampara and Vavuniya have been affected by the adverse weather conditions. In addition to flooding, the disasters have been caused by strong winds and falling trees.
10137 people belonging to 3102 families were sheltered in 104 shelters. As of 06.00 today (27), 01 death had been reported due to the disaster. 7 people are missing.
561 partial house damage and 06 complete house damage were also reported, said the Director General of the Disaster Management Center, Retired Major General Udaya Herath.
