Sri Lanka qualify for the World Cup by beating Zimbabwe.

The Sri Lankan team defeated the Zimbabwean team by 9 wickets in the Super 6 round of the World Cup One Day Cricket Tournament qualifying match held today (02).

The Sri Lanka captain won the toss in this match in Bulawayo and invited the Zimbabwean team to bat first.

The Sri Lankan team entered the match today by calling up Matisha Pathirana in place of the injured Lahiru Kumara.

Accordingly, Dilshan Madhusankha managed to send the first three batsmen of the Zimbabwean team to the stadium within 30 runs. Shean Williams, who was the successful batsman of the qualifying tournament, scored 15 runs and took advantage of the easy catch given by the Sri Lankan players to score 56 runs.

However, due to the excellent bowling of the Sri Lankan bowlers, the Zimbabwean team managed to score only 165 runs at the end of 32 overs and 2 overs.

In bowling, Mahish Teekshana took 4 wickets, Dilshan Madhusankha took 3 wickets and Mathisha Pathirana took two wickets.

The Sri Lankan team entered the field to chase a winning target of 166 runs and recorded the victory by losing one wicket in one ball in 33 overs.

Pathum Nishanka, who played an excellent inning for the Sri Lankan, scored his second century and scored 101 runs without losing. Dimuth Karunaratne scored 30 runs and Kusal Mendis scored an unbeaten 25 runs. With this victory, the Sri Lankan team qualified to participate in the 2023 World Cricket Championship.
