Parliamentarian Ravi Karunanayake has now arrived at the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption to give a statement in connection with an incident in which three employees recruited for a special project of the National Lotteries Board were allegedly used for political activities and caused losses to the government.
Although he was summoned to the Bribery or Corruption Commission on an earlier occasion to obtain a statement regarding this matter, he did not respond to that summons. Subsequently, a group of officials from the Bribery Commission had recently visited the MP’s house.
At that time too, the MP was not at home and had requested through his lawyers to be given another date to give the statement due to his daughter’s wedding. Accordingly, he has come to appear before the Commission today.
