6 opposition parties leave Sajith and form a separate alliance

Political sources say that the Samagi Jana Sandha, which holds the majority in the opposition, has suffered a serious split. Political sources say that this situation has been created due to the decision of 6 Tamil and Muslim political parties representing the party to present their issues to the government through a common platform.

In the current situation, if a provincial council election is held in the near future, the main opposition will be further divided, and it is reported that several political figures will leave the Samagi Jana Sandha along with the party.

This new opposition alliance consists of representatives of all Tamil-speaking parties and Muslim political parties. They have recently prepared a common political platform and are undermining the government by urging the government to hold provincial council elections without delay.

Representatives of the All Ceylon Muslim Congress, Ceylon Workers’ Congress, Democratic Tamil National Alliance, Ilankai Tamil Arusu Katchi, Sri Lanka Muslim Congress and Tamil Progressive Alliance have decided to work in this alliance.

Also, the representatives, who point out that they are working in this alliance only to influence the government, state that if the government asks for some support from their side, it can be considered.

Political sources say that the opposition parties have begun to organize themselves separately due to the frustration within the opposition due to the neutral stance being taken by Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa in the face of the current political situation unfolding in the country.

However, representatives of those political parties point out that they have not yet left the Samagi Jana Sandhana
