Former Minister Wimal Weerawansa’s brother Sarath Weerawansa has been remanded until the 22nd after being arrested by the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) and produced before the court.
It is reported that the arrest was made on the instructions of the Attorney General in connection with an allegation of misuse of government vehicles.
Suspect Sarath Weerawansa was arrested in an operation carried out by officers of the Financial Crimes Investigation Division in the Gampaha area today (16) and produced before the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court. The court has ordered that he be remanded until the 22nd.
