The number of dengue patients exceeds 65,000. 45 deaths per day.

The number of dengue deaths in the country has increased to 45, and the total number of patients reported this year is 65,034, according to a statement issued by the National Dengue Control Unit.

Commenting on this, the Acting Director of the National Dengue Control Unit, Dr. Kapila Kannangara, said that about 1,300 patients were reported yesterday (08) alone. In addition, he stated that 9,654 patients were reported in the first 08 days of July alone.

A higher prevalence of dengue can be seen in the Western Province and the National Dengue Control Unit has stated in its report that 13,332 patients have been identified from the Gampaha District, 13,150 patients from the Colombo District and 4,354 patients from the Kalutara District. In addition, the report further states that 4,600 patients have been identified from the Matara District in the Southern Province.
