West Indies played record innings in first Test against Sri Lanka

The hosts West Indies are expected to put on a dominant performance in the first Test between Sri Lanka and West Indies at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua.

In the first Test between the two teams, West Indian openers Amir Jangu and Roston Chase put on a 401-run stand against Sri Lanka. At the same time, Amir Jangu and Roston Chase broke the record for the sixth wicket in a Test match by scoring 399 runs, breaking the record held by England’s Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow.

The West Indies team won the toss and elected to feiled first against Sri Lanka. Accordingly, Sri Lanka, who came to bat, were bowled out for 308 runs, with captain Dhananjaya Silva scoring 120 runs and Sonal Dhindsa scoring 43 runs. In the bowling, Justin Greaves of the West Indies team took 2 wickets for 39 runs.

In reply, the West Indies team scored 626 runs for the loss of 9 wickets and the innings was suspended. Roston Chase scored 194 runs for the West Indies team and Amir Jangu scored 233 runs. Milan Ratnayake of the Sri Lanka team took 5 wickets for 124 runs.

Sri Lanka team was 15 runs for the loss of one wicket in its second innings.
