A clash has broken out between a group of police officers and a group of Sri Lanka Air Force personnel on the Kalpitiya beach. It is reported that the Sri Lanka Police has already initiated an extensive investigation into this controversial situation.
A police team had gone to the Kalpitiya beach area to raid a stock of illegal goods suspected of being smuggled into the country by sea, and this clash took place there.
When the police officers reached the spot, the Air Force personnel obstructed them, claiming that the beach area was under their direct jurisdiction and authority, and a heated verbal exchange ensued between the two parties.
