Six people in a queue for a dansala at Meegoda Junction were crushed to death by a cab.

Six people have died after a cab drove into a group of people in a queue for a dansala in the Meegoda area.

It is reported that 7 people, including another small child, who were injured in the accident have been admitted to the Homagama Base Hospital for treatment. A cab travelling from Avissawella towards Colombo lost control of the driver and drove into a group of people in a queue for a dansala at the Meegoda Junction. The cab ran over the people who were in the queue for food at the dansala at that time. Police say that three women aged 15, 32 and 56, and three men aged 35 and 38 have died in the accident.

The suspect driver and the cab were arrested by police officers on duty at the Meegoda junction at that moment. Police sources say that the suspect, a resident of Piliyandala, had already consumed alcohol at the time.
