The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority says that more than 950,000 tourists have visited the island during the past year. Accordingly, the authority stated that 951,742 tourists have visited the island between January 1 and May 17.
The reports further state that the majority of these, 221,953, are Indian nationals. Also, a large number of tourists have visited the island from countries including Britain, Russia, Germany and China.
Meanwhile, 75,465 tourists have visited the island between May 1 and 17. However, when observing the data of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, it is seen that the daily tourist arrivals in April and May have decreased significantly compared to the months of January, February and March.
