Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa has revealed that an investigation has been initiated into the failure of the Sri Lanka Postal Department to receive the US$625,000 paid to the USPS.
He made this statement at a media briefing held today to announce the cabinet decisions, clarifying the previously reported US$2.5 million treasury payment.
Expressing further views, the Minister stated as follows:
“Such irregularities or errors in institutions are being investigated at the institutional level. The Ministry of Finance has also submitted a complaint to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in this regard. ”
