Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga said that the mastermind behind the Easter attacks has now been caught in the crossfire of the law. She said that peace is very important, but marching alone is not enough to establish peace, and stressed the need for a practical program for that.
Expressing further views, she said:
“The peace march is good. But nothing is being done for peace. It is only said that the march was held. Peace should have come to the country several decades ago, if it had happened about 30 years ago, it would have been better.”
The former President made these comments while answering questions posed by journalists when she arrived at the Attanagalla Rajamaha Viharaya this morning (21) to meet monks who had come to the country to participate in the peace march.
