The United States and Israel launched strikes on identified targets in Iran today, reportedly killing or wounding a significant number of Iranians.
US President Donald Trump, in a post on his Twitter account, described the surprise attack as a “massive operation” to destroy Iran’s military capabilities and eliminate the threat of a nuclear weapon.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement that it was defending its homeland and that it was retaliating against Israel, as well as targeting US military bases in Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar with drones and missiles.
At least 57 people were killed and 45 others injured in a shooting at a girls’ school in southern Iran, according to the Israeli-American News Agency. In addition, one person was killed in an Iranian missile attack on the capital of the United Arab Emirates, state media said.
