Suspended Deputy Secretary General of Parliament Chaminda Kularatne has filed a complaint with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption against Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne.
Chaminda Kularatne appeared before the Bribery Commission to file the complaint alleging the Speaker’s corrupt practices.
Speaking to the media on behalf of his client, Attorney Mithun Dias said that the complaint is not against the government, but specifically against the Speaker for the alleged corrupt practices.
He said that Chaminda Kularatne’s service was suspended due to a personal dispute with the Speaker, which was not related to official duties or other administrative matters, and was due to personal enmity rather than political motives.
The Speaker or the Bribery Commission have not yet issued an official response to the complaint.
