The leader of the United Republic Front, Patali Champika Ranawaka, says that the country has lost two gigawatt hours per day due to the disputed coal tender. He said this at a press conference held yesterday (26).
He said that the loss incurred is almost double the fine expected to be recovered from the company in question.
Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP D.V. Chanaka recently stated in Parliament that a loss of nearly one billion rupees had been incurred due to the import of substandard coal for the Lakvijaya Power Plant in Norochcholai, and with that statement, a controversy arose in the country.
