Mahara Chief Magistrate Lochani Abeywickrama issued a warrant for the arrest of former convener of the Inter-University Students’ Federation Wasantha Mudalige .
The warrant was issued for his failure to appear in court in connection with an incident in which he allegedly caused public distress by holding a protest in front of the University of Kelaniya .
D. M. Chamika Asela , J. A. Jude Krishanthi , W. M. Yashod Lakshan , W. K. Sameera Sampath , M. M. Rasika Dilhara , S. A. Krishantha Subhasinghe , Janith Janajaya , Sanjaya Hettimulla and former convener of the Inter-University Students’ Federation Wasantha Mudalige have been named as respondents in this case.
The Kiribathgoda Police have filed several charges against them in court, including being members of an illegal assembly, rioting against the government, and remaining at the scene of an illegal assembly despite being notified by a lawful authority to disperse.
