A musical show until dawn at the Galle National Hospital.

It is reported that the patients of the Galle National Hospital were seriously inconvenienced when a musical show organized by the Junior Staff Committee continued until past midnight recently.

Loud loudspeakers were used for this musical evening, which took place between the buildings of the hospital premises, and in addition to the sound emanating from them, the patients were also kept awake all night by the rhythmic flashing of electric bulbs, several of the patients who were staying there have told our reporters.

According to Sri Lanka’s Criminal Code, the use of such loudspeakers after 10 am is an offence. The police have the power to arrest and produce the offender before the court without a complaint.

There have been several court rulings against such use of loudspeakers, and the patients allege that the hospital police stationed on the hospital premises have acted in defiance of these rulings.

The Director of the Galle National Hospital has also expressed his surprise at the way the hospital has behaved despite the suffering of the patients. It seems that holding such musical performances in the hospital is becoming a tradition at the Galle National Hospital. It is reported that a group of nursing staff at the Galle National Hospital also held a similar musical performance in the Galle National Hospital premises some time ago.
