A schoolboy who was assaulted by a principal of a school in the Suriyawewa area has been receiving treatment in hospital for several days, but it is reported that the law has not yet been implemented against the principal who assaulted him. The victim, who is about the age of 18, has been in hospital for over a week.
The parents of the student say that despite complaining to the Suriyawewa police regarding this incident, no action has been taken so far. They say that they suspect that the reason for the slow behavior of the police is that the principal’s wife is a Pradeshiya Sabha member of the National People’s Power Party.
The student’s parents say that they have filed a complaint with the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Matara and Hambantota since the Sooriyawewa Police have not done justice to their child, and that they hope to file a complaint with the Human Rights Commission, the Child Protection Authority, and the President in the future.
