Police officer shot at police station admitted to hospital.

A police officer was injured after a firearm accidentally went off at the Ambalangoda Police Station this afternoon (24). The injured person is a constable who had come to report for duty.

The constable was checking his firearm after reporting for duty when the firearm suddenly went off. It is said that he was shot in one of his legs.

He has been admitted to the Balapitiya Base Hospital for treatment. It is reported that his condition is not serious.
