Former Parliamentarian and President’s Counsel Wijeyadasa Rajapaksa is expected to be appointed as a Senior Deputy Chairman of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, said party Chairman Nimal Siripala de Silva.
Accordingly, in addition to the post of Senior Vice President, he is also expected to hold the posts of Colombo District Leader and Maharagama Electoral Organizer.
Speaking at a press conference held on Friday (12), he said that the appointment is scheduled to be approved at the upcoming executive committee meeting of the party.
He stated that the long-standing legal disputes related to the Sri Lanka Freedom Party have now been resolved and an agreement has been reached with Wijedasa Rajapaksa to resolve the issues through discussions.
Nimal Siripala de Silva said that six court cases related to Wijedasa Rajapaksa have been withdrawn and he has been invited to support the future political program of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.
