The government is responsible for the devastation caused to the people by floods and landslides, says Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam. Addressing a media conference held at the party headquarters, he said that President Anura Dissanayake should accept responsibility for the devastation caused and resign, and if he does not do so, the opposition should move to impeach him.
Expressing further views, he said:
“The government is making a subtle attempt to hide the devastation caused to the country and the people due to its incompetence and negligence. Despite warnings, the government was doing other political activities without doing anything to protect the people. That is why we are asking the main opposition in this country to impeach this President.
If this is done, the government will lose two-thirds of what it has. “People who love the country and have a conscience in the National People’s Power government cannot stand for this government any longer.”
