The Jaffna Magistrate has ordered that if there is any threat to the life of former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the relevant facts should be informed to the court through an affidavit on February 6, 2026.
This order was issued when the case related to the abduction of two human rights activists, Lalith Kumar Weeraraju and Kugan Muruganandan, was taken up for hearing at the Jaffna Magistrate’s Court yesterday (10).
Gotabaya Rajapaksa did not appear in court, claiming that there were threats to his life, and the former President’s lawyers informed the court of this.
The Jaffna Magistrate has ordered that if there is any such threat to his life, the relevant facts should be presented to the court through an affidavit on February 6, 2026.
