Statement from the President on the Sambodhi Temple in Trincomalee.

President Anura Dissanayake expressed his views in Parliament regarding the incident related to the Sambodhi Temple in Trincomalee. In it, he said that certain parties are using this incident to create a communal riot.

He pointed out that there are no constructive slogans left to oppose the defeated political forces, and therefore their aim has become to create a communal situation.

The President was of the opinion that since the government cannot be accused of corruption, democracy or economic issues, they are using communalism. The President said that a specific report has been called from the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of Public Security regarding this incident.

It is noted in the relevant book of the Trincomalee Police Station that the Buddha statue was brought to the police for protection. He said that he has this note and can present it to Parliament if necessary.

He explained that if someone tries to revive old racist dramas, they should understand that it is only history and that the future political agenda of the country will not be written on racism.
