The current Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Justice and National Integration, who was arrested yesterday (08) morning by the investigating officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, has been released on bail.
The arrested suspect, Rajapaksa Pathirage Sepalika Saman Kumari, was produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court and released on bail.
The Bribery Commission had arrested the former Acting Director General of the Compensation Office in connection with a suspected compensation fraud involving land owned by the Mahaweli Authority. The suspect, who is currently serving as the Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Justice, was arrested yesterday morning.
She is accused of defrauding former State Minister Shashindra Rajapaksa in the process of paying compensation for a Mahaweli Authority property damaged during the 2022 ‘Aragala’ protest.
