The “National Victory Celebration” to mark the 17th anniversary of the war victory is scheduled to be held tomorrow (19) as usual this year as in previous years.
The War Heroes Service Authority states that the ceremony will be held in front of the War Heroes Monument in Battaramulla and that President Anura Kumara Dissanayake will attend as the chief guest.
Brigadier S.B. Kohona, Chairman of the War Heroes Service Authority, said at a media briefing held at the Government Information Department that for the first time, relatives of war heroes who sacrificed their lives in the North and East will also join the commemoration ceremony this year.
