IMF representatives meet Sajith

A meeting between Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa and the International Monetary Fund delegation was held at the Opposition Leader’s office today.

The Opposition Leader has pointed out to the IMF representatives that the removal of the S VAT facility, which has been in effect since October 1, will cause great harm to our country’s exporters.

The Opposition Leader also called for the immediate cessation of the removal of the S VAT facility and for steps to be taken to achieve this, as it is beneficial to our country’s export sector. The Opposition Leader emphasized that the government has not introduced an alternative program after depriving our country’s exporters of the S VAT facility.

Further expressing his views before the IMF representatives, he said that micro, small and medium-scale industrialists, who make a significant contribution to the country’s economy and employment, have been greatly disadvantaged by the implementation of the Parata law.

Opposition MPs Rauff Hakeem, Bathiudeen, Harsha de Silva and Kabir Hashim are also present for this occasion.
