Sri Lanka wins by 7 runs in first ODI

Sri Lanka won by 7 runs in the first ODI between Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe at the Harare Cricket Stadium yesterday.

Batting first after winning the toss, Zimbabwe captain Sean Williams scored 298 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their 50 overs. Pathum Nissanka scored 76, Kamindu Mendis scored 57 and Janith Liyanage scored 70 not out. Richard Nagrawa took 2 wickets for 34 runs in 7.4 overs.

Chasing a target of 299 runs, Zimbabwe could only manage 291 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their 50 overs. Sikandar Raza scored 92, Ben Curran 70 and Shaun Williams scored 57. In the bowling, Dilshan Madushanka scored 62 runs and took 4 wickets while Asitha Fernando took 3 wickets for 50 runs. Kamindu Mendis took 1 wicket for 33 runs.
