The National Housing Development Authority has planned to meet the housing needs of this country in the next 5 years.
The Kandy District Manager of the Authority, Anil Priyantha, said that facilities will be provided to applicants who do not currently have houses but own land.
The Manager stated that the National Housing Development Authority is implementing several programs for this purpose, including the Samata Sevana Housing Program and Housing Assistance Program.
He said that the amount of Rs. 2,500 million allocated for the National Housing Development Authority this year will increase to about Rs. 7,500 million next year, and that more houses can be built through this.
He said that this program is implemented in accordance with the government’s policy of providing housing for families and sub-families, and that the funds required for some of its schemes are funds generated by the National Housing Development Authority.
He expressed these views at the District Housing Committee held at the Kandy District Secretariat.
District Secretary Indika Udawatte, Additional District Secretary Niluka Bulathge, Divisional Secretaries and housing officers participated in this event.
