The Illegal Assets Investigation Unit of the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division has initiated an investigation into three former ministers.
The investigation has been initiated in accordance with the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act No. 05 of 2006.
Police sources say that this investigation is to be conducted regarding the acquisition of assets by former ministers Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, and Rohitha Abeygunawardena.
As a further step in this investigation, the three former ministers are to be summoned to the relevant unit in the future to record their statements.
