Two persons were injured and eight vehicles were severely damaged due to two huge trees falling on the main road near the Asgiriya Police Stadium in Kandy.
This accident happened today around 11.00 am when two huge trees fell down on Tilak Ratnayake Mawatha in Kandy.
The two injured have been admitted to the Kandy National Hospital for treatment and eight vehicles including a van, car, tricycle and lorry have been damaged in the accident. Local residents said that the roots of these old trees had rotted for many years.
Kandy Headquarters Police, City Fire Department, Army, Kandy Municipal Council, Kandy District Disaster Management Unit and many other agencies took steps to remove the tree and due to this the traffic on the road was suspended for more than two hours.
