The Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court today ordered the release of former Director of Terrorism Investigation Division (TID) DIG Nalaka de Silva for conspiring to kill former President Maithripala Sirisena and former Defense Secretary President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage ordered the release of the former director of the T.ID from the case as per the instructions given by the Attorney General that there is not enough evidence to continive this case further.
In 2019, the Criminal Investigation Department started investigations into the incident following a complaint made by Namal Kumara, Director of Operations of the Anti-Corruption Campaign in 2019.
