Eastern Province Governor Anuradha Yahampat said that a senior official of the Presidential Secretariat informed her in a telephone call to resign from the post of Governor. Anuradha Yahampath, a close friend of former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, is also a member of Vietamga.
Political sources say that in addition to the eastern governorship, the governorships of Sabaragamuwa North and North-West provinces are also going to change soon. The sources further say that the President intends to change the Governors appointed by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa immediately.
