Keheliya resigns as minister.

Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, who is in prison, has handed over his letter of resignation from the position of Environment Minister to President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

It is reported that the letter has been forwarded to President’s Secretary Saman Ekanayake and after receiving it, President Ranil Wickremesinghe is scheduled to receive it.

Accordingly, it is reported that after accepting the resignation, the environment ministry will be placed under the president or a new minister will be appointed.

Former health Minister Rambukwella has been remanded until February 15 in connection with the fraud of buying a batch of locally produced human immunoglobulin vaccines from an unqualified manufacturer claiming that they were imported from India.
