Who killed the husband of a journalist in a Lady lawyer’s yard?

The man who was found lying injured in the yard of a lady lawyer’s house in Dehiwala on the night of January 1st was died after being taken to hospital. The reletive say that his death is suspicious.

The deceased is a resident of the Dehiwala area. The relatives say that the behaviors of the Dehiwala police officers regarding his death was suspicious from the beginning.

The first phone call regarding this incident was received by the Dehiwala police at around 11 pm on January 1st. It was reported that a three-wheeler had been stopped on the road not far from the lady lawyer’s house. Accordingly, the police officers who went there brought the vehicle to the police. Although it had a phone, no attempt was made to check the calls received on it and find the owner. No formal search was made around the area where the three-wheeler was located.

Then, at around 1 am that night, a call was made to the 119 emergency number from the lady lawyer’s house near the three-wheeler found. It was that a person was lying in the yard of her house. According to that call, the police officers who went there did not make any attempt to hospitalize the person. At least, they did not try to provide first aid to him, who was bleeding. In such a situation, calling the 1919 ambulance service is something even a small child would do. But nothing happened.

Then, at around 5 am on the next day, the lady lawyer’s house informed the Dehiwala police about this. Finally, the police officers admitted the person to the Colombo South Teaching Hospital at around 7 am. Family relatives say that they came to know at the hospital that he was already half dead. Finally, he died this morning. What is surprising is that the police did not take any action to obtain a statement on this matter throughout the day on the 2nd. Also, the family members say that the police tried to convince them that this death occurred due to a fall to the ground and his head hitting the concrete floor. The police did not even try to obtain CCTV footage.

Since the deceased’s wife is a journalist, the police did not get away with it as easily as they thought. The report says that investigations have already begun on the orders of the IGP. But if this had happened to an ordinary person, there was every chance that it would have been reported as an accidental death.
