No matter how many protests are held under the influence of political slogans, the price set by the government for paddy will not be changed, said Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Lands and Irrigation K.D. Lalkantha.
The Minister further said that the government takes decisions by paying attention to both the farmers and the consumers.
Expressing further views, the Minister said the following.
“We are not ministers who think only about farmers. We also think about farmers. We also think about consumers. Farmers should also know that in this country, consumers are the ones who provide all the concessions they are given.
So when farmers ask for the price of their paddy, when they ask for the price of paddy with those political slogans, they should also think about the people who give us this fertilizer subsidy, provide us with these irrigation facilities, provide us with various concessions, and give our children Rs. 6,000 to buy school supplies.
Without being fooled by political slogans, we have made the numbers. We have made the numbers and said the number. 120, 130, 140. That is the number. We will not allow them to protest enough to demand more than that. That is the number.”
