A situation of unrest has arisen near the Ruwanweli Maha Stupa in Anuradhapura.
The unrest was triggered when the police intervened to prevent a group including Buddhist monks from initiating a satyagraha at the dansala grounds within the Ruwanweli Stupa premises.
