Sanuri Isurika Weerasekera, a final year student of Sri Jayawardenepura University, died in a road accident at Kegalle Mangalagama on the Colombo – Kandy road.
She met with this accident while returning from the Peradeniya Veterinary Hospital where she was getting treatment for a broken leg of her pet puppy. Her pet puppy also died in the accident.
Their three-wheeler, driven by her cousin, collided with a tipper while passing Utuvankanda towards Kegalle. It is reported that the three-wheeler was traveling in the opposite lane at that time. The cousin who was driving is being treated in the intensive care unit of the Kegalle General Hospital.
The deceased Sanuri Isurika Weerasekera was a student of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of Sri Jayawardenepura University. She was looking forward to attending the graduation ceremony next September.
