Two police officers and another person who shot and killed a deer in the Seenuggalla Reserve in the Galkeeriyagama Wildlife Area have been arrested by villagers. It is reported that the two arrested officers are attached to the Madatugama and Girambe police stations .

Later, Galkeeriyagama police officers who arrived at the scene took the suspected police officers and the killed deer into their custody. The villagers strongly protested and demanded that the suspects and the deer be handed over to the wildlife officers. However, the police did not agree to this.

At the same time, the police also rejected the request made by the wildlife officers who arrived there to hand over the suspected police officers and the shot and killed deer to them.
